Computer Notes 2
What is Memory:- Memory can refer to any medium of data storage, it is usually refer to RAM.
Memory can be two type as follow:-
Primary Memory | Secondary Memory |
Primary memory is also known as main/temporary/volatile memory. This kind of memory is available in form of silicon chips , and are assembled in the main board. | Secondary Memory is permanent storage memory .it is non volatile in nature. Secondary memory is required because RAM is volatile in nature. |

Primary Memory | |
RAM (Random Access Memory) | ROM (Read Only Memory) |
1. SRAM (Static RAM) Eg:- Cache Memory 2. DRAM (Dynamic RAM). RAM can be measured in two parameters Storage Capacity and Transfer Speed Eg:- RAM in PC. It has | PROM (Programmable ROM) EPROM(Erase able PROM) EEPROM (Electrical EPROM) ROM chip contains all the necessary information required during the booting operation of the computer. Computer use CMOS chip to access all the information of ROM (BIOS) |

World Wide Web (WWW)
The World Wide Web is a system of internet servers that supports hypertext to access several internet protocols on a single interface. The WWW was developed in 1989 by Tim Berners-Lee of the European Particle Physics Lab (CERN) in Switzerland.

Secondary Memory
It is permanent storage memory and non volatile in nature. Secondary memory required because of RAM is volatile in nature and limited storage space.RAM is also costlier than secondary memory storage devices.
There are two main operations that are performed in secondary storage devices (Read and Write).
1. Read:- Read operation read from memory.
(For exp. Playing music on Smartphone)
2. Write: - Write operations writes data to memory.
(For exp. Downloading music into Smartphone from any another source like Internet)
